National Merit: College Plans Reporting Service

And for schools that track interest, like Penn and Columbia, would it be good to send it to them instead of my real top choices (MIT & harvard)?

Okay since NYU and Wisconsin "offer" a scholarship i might put them down as my 2. What does that mean they "offer" a scholarship?

plus can i still say that Im NMSF on resumes if i didn't report it to colleges?

bump...im also debating the 'interest' factor

also, what other colleges waive the application fee for designating them on cprs?

I think Rice will waive the application fee if you name Rice.

Yes they do, jrpar.

Glad I found this thread! From what I hear, it looks like it won't be advantageous if I put anything from HYPSMC in, so I'll put in some other schools I'm applying to that do give NM stuff.

I know I’m bumping a really old thread, sorry!

I just got the letter. I was trying to figure out to whom I should report. My score was 226 (CR: 72, M: 74, W: 80), which is almost definitely an NMF score here (cutoff is usually around 210), but isn’t crazy fantastic of anything.
My top colleges in the US are Yale, MIT, Swarthmore, UChicago, and Harvard. I figured Swarthmore might care, since it’s a LAC, and maybe UChicago, considering its small number of applicants as compared to HYM. Are these good choices?

Hypothetically, would it be better for me to use the NMS reporting service for working toward a full ride to a state university (Rutgers) or to indicate interest in a much higher-up university (Duke)?

Wait letters are out? I thought we don’t hear til the fall…

Going by the numbers you have I should have gotten it but I didn’t get a letter yet…should I be worried?

Anybody have any clue about what the cut-off for internationals would be this year?
I got a 222 which is (relatively) not so great… And from one of the posts on this thread, i read that the cut off was 221(!)

Letters are out for the top 50,000, which includes commended and SF scores. You won’t find out whether you are a SF until the fall.

Are there any consequences to not responding to the letter…at all? That is, if you don’t send it in, will you no longer be eligible to become a NMSF?

“My (NMF) kid forgot to send his scores to any schools last year. I really don’t think it matters.”

I’m assuming that means it doesn’t matter?
I totally forgot about this letter =)

If you are a junior and have not chosen any schools, it is not an issue.

ugh i might just send this to some of my low matches/safeties so that they think I’m interested. sorry if this has been answered before, but do the colleges even care about the scores if you are NMSF or higher?

I was directed to the CPRS site and have registered, but I do not see how ones goes about picking the 2 universities and sending them your information and PSAT scores. Could someone direct me to the appropriate link or place on this sight.

Thank-you

Is this the official thing where you have to report your top two and basically those are the only ones that will offer you scholarships? I’ve seen on websites a lot that they’ll give full ride or whatever to students who list them as the first choice. Is that what this is?? I though that wasn’t until April or May of senior year!

Thanks for clarifying!

mt1993- go back and read this thread from the beginning. Your question will be answered.

wow I’m stupid I got a 204. lol. I just got this letter in the mail and I don’t even know where to start. I’m thinking about Harvard or Yale but I don’t know if it will matter to them. I’m also thinking about UW-Madison, USC, UCLA, University of Chicago, Stanford, Vassar, etc. Should I put 2 schools I don’t know as well/might not be visiting? Or ones that I know it’s a long shot to get into? I really don’t know much about it, and I’m going to ask my guidance counselor but any advice would be appreciated. :)
