<p>Just wondering, but how much of a difference is it in college apps if you're commended VS semi-finalist in national merit?</p>
<p>Commended means absolutely nothing in the admissions process, and semi-finalist can give you a bump at non-elite schools</p>
<p>Only 1000 out of the 16000 NMSFs don’t move on to finalist. Being finalist makes a big difference in some schools, particularly those which have large scholarships available. Oklahoma, Alabama, Denison, etc have full tuition. USC has half tuition.<br>
