<p>I'd like to know that, too. My district has released the names of NMSF but not the other categories.</p>
<p>You shall have been notified last May that you are going on with the National Merit competition. If you are not qualified as a National Merit Semifinalist by now you are National Merit Commended. There is in general no separate announcement for National Merit Commended.</p>
<p>I called the psat/nmsqt from the number on collegeboard.com, and I asked them about this very question. The very nice lady said that they mailed out the letters and whatnot at the beginning of last week. She said they should be coming soon, hopefully this week.</p>
<p>because i knew i didnt get SF, but my score was good, pretty solid. So my curiosity bubble burst and I had to call and find out for sure if I had been commended. i called them yesterday.</p>

<p>As LACboundgirl stated, you won't get a letter in the mail for commended..you'll learn from your school counselor.</p>
