National Merit Finalist 1/2 Tuition for USC?

@menloparkmom I don’t know your connection with USC, after the scholarship decision were announced in February, you posted on the 2021 usc decision thread that you personal spoke to an admissions officer at USC and he confirmed that they are getting the list of NMF from NM corporation in batches. Sounds like you have a personal interest in this NMF as well. However I have not seen you posted of your kid’s decision on the 2021 USC decision thread after the decision came out. I would have thought someone with over 11k posts would as least do that? And then to come here at the 1/2 tuition and post your comments…Are you really a parent who has a child applying to USC this year? Makes me wonder…

@menloparkmom This is your post on the 62,63 or 70 best time to start taking social security. You seems to be an expect in a lot of area…

I learned about it on another CC thread.
It is totally worth the one time $40 fee.

@SATHater-
look my post tally -over 11000 posts. 600 helpfluls *
I have been here on CC for 13 years -paying it forward . I never said I had a student at USC this year.
My DS was a NMF, a Trustee Scholar, and was also one of 10 students awarded a Discovery Scholar award when he graduated from USC in 2011. The President of USC commented on my DS’s research achievement at the commencement ceremonies.

Most posters on the USC threads actually appreciate having knowledgeable veterans of the USC admissions process on CC that they can trust.
Sorry you dont.
I have an ongoing email relationship with the Dean of Admissions at USC, even though my DS graduated 6 years ago, because they appreciate the fact that I am still here- correcting misinformation about USC and guiding students and parents about all the opportunities USC offers.

and yes I do know a lot about a lot of things.
many of us oldtimers on CC are like family- we spend a lot of time talking about many issues, since most of the parents I first met on CC now have other things to discuss.

What a hobby you have! You are definitely guiding future students to fall for the same thing we and a lot of other rejected high stat students with NMF fell for. Thank you for confirming that you have ongoing relationship with the USC Dean of admissions even though your DS graduated 6 years ago. Conflict of interests much?

^^
why dont you take your snarky attitude elsewhere, k?
seems USC made the right decision about your application.

IF you had been on CC a long time, you would ALSO know that GENUINE INTEREST in actually going to USC is factored into admission decisions,

no one with the kind of attitude you are displaying deserves to go there, let alone recieve a discount on tuition.
mike drop…

For whatever it’s worth, my kid listed USC as his #1 in the Fall so USC knew his status (he also emailed them to let them know). He was accepted with a just slightly below average GPA (from a rigorous high school with rigorous course load) and very, very high test scores, with ECs to be proud of but nothing extraordinary in and of itself. He was a good match for USC though it seemed and it turned out they agreed. So for us, it all worked out.

My son notified USC of his NMSF & NMF status during the admissions process. Pleased to say he has been awarded the Trustee Scholarship.

Maybe people don’t see many accepted NMFs in the primary thread because there really isn’t any reason to make a point of it if you are accepted.

@menloparkmom hem… it’s not me who applied, my daughter. Unlike someone who has no life, I will get off all CC threads except the one school my daughter choose to go after this Friday…

@mickley0007 @CGHTeach Sooo glad to see it worked out for you both. So heart broken to see so many of these high stat NMF students with amazing ECs got rejected. And to see some one who claimed worked for USC posted that the NMF whom were rejected had average SAT scores. My daughter for one had never submitted her 1560 SAT score which she took for NMSF confirmatory purposes since she already submitted her 35 ACT by 12/1.

Point taken. Definitely moving on by Friday after Ivy days
