Many of the “unofficial” NMF scholarships are better than the “official” ones.

Mail was not delivered today due to weather. If a letter does not arrive in the mailbox tomorrow, I think I am going to break down and call.

cindyyde: Technically speaking, a National Merit Scholar is a NMF who received any NMSC, corporate-sponsored, or colleg-sponsored scholarship but I don’t see that the designation really adds much value to the NMF designation.

Just be aware that some schools will claim they have x number of NMScholars which is more than any Ivy League school. But then the ONLY NM Scholars that Ivy League schools will have are those who received the $2500 or a corporate-sponsored scholarship, which is probably a small percentage of the total number of NMF’s there. On the other hand, a school that promises a college-sponsored award to any NMF enrolled will have 100% of their NMF’s as NM Scholars, but that number is probably significantly less than the number of NMF’s at an Ivy League school.

Letter received yesterday (Feb 13) in Portland, Oregon. It felt good to get confirmation. Best to all who are waiting–hope you hear ASAP!

My mail is late today and couldn’t stand it one more second. Had to call. He’s a finalist! Was starting to worry that he forgot to submit his essay or something…LOL! Like I needed one more thing to worry about.
