My son received a letter today informing him that he is a National Merit Finalist. Has anyone else received this notification.

The additional $13,000 will certainly help.

Yep, I received it yesterday!
The day after I received my engineering scholarship.
The week made my parents happy, haha.

Wow...a week has passed and only two CCers weigh in as NMF's? Texas leads the nation (public universities) with the number of National Merit Scholars enrolled. I have to believe there are many more of you out there.

hmm I'm pretty sure I saw some people on the scholarships thread mention they got NMF. I'm sure there's a lot more. Two of my friends who are definitely going to Texas are NMFs and that's out of the 7 at our school, so I think there's a lot more out there.

count me in! ;) But if I decide to go here, I'll need to change my first college choice from Rice to UT.. which seriously should be a no-brainer because Rice will probably only offer me $3000 for NMF.

My son got notification, too. You're right - there are others of us out here, just not on CC every day.

Congrats to all!

How much does UT give for NMF?

$4,000 the first year
$3,000 every year for the next three years
$13,000 total
