I am a National Merit Finalist and was wondering whether UF gave any scholarships to National Merit Finalists...does anyone know? The UF website is a bit confusing on this matter

Last year it was an out-of-state tuition waiver plus $2000 per semester for 8 semesters. A great deal if you happen to be out-of-state (like us).

That’s pretty cool. Anything if you’re in-state? (How are you liking UF by the way?)

CollegeHopeful07 - nothing for in-state, I’m afraid. Automatic admission to Hume honors and early registration dates, plus about $250 a semester from NatMer itself. Otherwise, that’s it. It’s still such an awesome deal financially that it doesn’t matter, though! :)

Thanks alovestori!! I was rejected from the honors college though Would anything chnage if I told them I am a National Merit Finalist?

Yes. Why wouldn’t they know?

I am a junior who just found out that my PSAT score will most likely meet the bar for National Merit this coming year, and UF is my first choice. Does University of Florida still wave the out-of-state tuition for National Merit Finalists? An admissions counselor told me that UF is not directly associated with the PSAT/NM program in their scholarships, but I just can’t seem to find out if they have a standard scholarship offered to finalists! Does it vary per applicant?

Unfortunately UF is stingy on the merit money for NMF even for in-state. Years back they gave full scholarships–now you’re lucky to get a pittance if anything. There are just too many qualified students who want to attend UF.

Most replies are correct : unless you are out of state, UF isn’t really given to NMF. Of course, if UF is your first choice and they give you the extra $200 a semester, why not?
