My daughter is NMSF with 3.95 GPA, 5.0 HPA, 1480 SAT, top 6% of her class, extra curriculars. Anyone have any idea if she might receive National Merit scholarship at Fordham (or anyone know similar schools that have given full scholarships for NMSF). Thanks
Fordham’s is not a “full ride” scholarship as in total COA. They do have a scholarship for NMF that is full tuition but it is not a guarantee … there are some stipulations including IIRC being in top 10% of admittance class. Now how they determine what is considered top 10% … well, they do not disclose that. If one receives that top scholarship, one would be left with about $18-20K a year in R&B, Books, etc.
There are fewer and fewer schools that offer full COA for NMF. You would need to be looking at schools like the Florida state system, University of Alabama, some of the UTexas system (not Austin) …
My daughter is NMSF as well, 1540 SAT / 35 ACT with a 4.61 wGPA … applied to Fordham with hopes of that top scholarship as well … but has also applied to schools with total COA automatic for NMF
Has anyone been able to find out what financial questionnaires we need to fill out and by when for Fordham’s national merit scholarship? fordham’s website only specifes the forms needed for renewal.
I believe the FAFSA and CSS need to be completed and sent to Fordham through those portals. I think I read that the deadline was 11/15 but not entirely certain.
I dont see anything on the fordham website about any fafsa or css deadline.
Can I ask what fill COA schools your daughter applied to.
@BM2302 she has also applied to UCF, ASU, UTDallas … all 3 are pretty much automatic full COA for NMFs (some much more than COA with stipends and such)
We will have lots of weighing to do come Spring
I haven’t checked the website recently, but the applicant portal has all the dates listed clearly, including those for filing for financial aid.
My D was awarded the NMSF/NHS full tuition award last year at Fordham. We would have had to pay room & board, but another on CC reported getting a total COA scholarship (they might have been awarded FA though). We were required to submit the FAFSA and CSS even though we didn’t apply for FA–I went back and forth with the admissions office several times to confirm that I needed to complete the forms. In the end, my daughter declined the offer and ended up somewhere else. Good luck!
That is such a bother to file the fafsa and css for one college. Thanks PepperJo for letting me know your experience, and congrats on your awesome daughter’s offer of last year.
And thanks amsunshine for letting me know that more info is on their applicant portal. We havent opened it yet. We were just digging through the Fordham website for details but found them lacking.
