national merit help

ok so i got this letter today from my school saying im a semifinalist and to turn in a draft to school on monday, so I have 1.5 days to write it. The thing is, they didn't tell me what the prompt is. Its just a piece of paper and i have no clue what the essay topic is. Can someone tell me what it is? ive been reading about some packet i was supposed to get but i never got one.

Oh wow, there's an entire form you need to fill out so you should probably get that asap.

The essay prompt: "ESSAY ABOUT YOURSELF In your own words, describe your personal characteristics, accomplishments, primary interests, plans, and goals. What sets you apart? Your essay should be about 500 words."

thank you thank you thank you soooo much!!!!!!

OMG! I am so mad. . .the guidance department at my school is so incompetent! My principal congratulated me on getting Semi-Finalist a week or so ago, and I was like, "What?" and he said guidance was supposed to tell me a while back. Now I discover they HAVEN'T GIVEN ME A PACKET?? What the heck? Are all essays due on Monday?

No, your principal needs to send it by October 12, however, the deadline the school sets for the students varies from school to school. My deadline isn't until September 17.

yeah my deadline isnt even until oct 10.. i feel like they probs wont get there on time

ummm... just FYI, I'm pretty sure semifinalist info is supposed to be confidential btwn guidance, semifinalist, and family until September 12th.

(and the fact that I know this suggests... yeah.)

The semi's at my school have a deadline of Oct. 8th... but I know the school is going to send it in on time (they wouldn't not).

"They wouldn't not"? That's an awkward sentence :)

Congratulations to all of you!

lol...

It was more of a fragment, I guess. What I meant was the school wouldn't allow the opportunity to let so many finalists slip away at my school. Those who make it are highly praised..........
