The NMSC letter says that in order to become a finalist, you have to have a recommender/endorser (not related to you) who writes a recommendation and submits the application for you. Does this have to be an actual teacher or can it be someone who has helped me with academic things who isn’t necessarily a teacher?

I can not help you with your question, but if you can, many people over on this thread would appreciate your input on what SI was sufficient for your kid to make NMSF in New York, if you are able to share:
@NYhomeschooler, have you called NMSC? If not, try now before too many students get their NMSF letters. I called just yesterday to ask a question and there was no wait before I was connected with someone who could help me. NMSC must have a standard response for your question since many homeschoolers make NMSF each year.
