National Merit Scholarship Finalist? How to notify colleges

<p>I just got a letter that says I'm a finalist in the NMSC, and since I'm still waiting on a majority of college decisions I'm wondering if sending this to them will help?</p>

<p>Biggest problem is how am I supposed to let them know? I'm thinking of putting a photocopy of the certificate with a letter in an envelope and mailing that, but I have no idea what to write on the letter. Am I just supposed to write a short note that it's for updating my application or something?</p>

<p>I'd really appreciate any help.</p>

<p>I hear you should let them know all your updates at once, but not sure if by email or letter. It does show interest.</p>
