I was named a national merit finalist a couple of weeks ago and I just got accepted into USC today, does that mean I get the half-tuition scholarship automatically? Will they send me something in the mail or give me a phone call about it?

Yup. You get it automatically. I don’t know the specifics, but it’ll probably be included in your financial aid packet, if you’re getting that. Just curious–I’m NMF too, waiting to hear–what major are you?

i’m a NMF too waiting to hear back. so anxious.

What major did you apply for, candy45? I’m freaking out because I haven’t heard a word about anyone applying for Cinematic Arts. Then again, I would be freaking out even more if people had been accepted already…

I applied for Cinematic Arts.

Oooh writing by any chance? Man it’s a small world…

There is another thread all about this subject. There is a procedure involved naming SC as your first choice college by late spring. Check it out as it gives a complete explanation.

no, i applied for production.

“does that mean I get the half-tuition scholarship automatically”
NO. You HAVE to designate USC as your first choice with NMSF by mid April. If they don’t receive the correct paperwork from you by the due date then it’s bye-bye scholarship.

I’m undecided engineering

The letter saying that I was a finalist listed “University of Southern California” as the one I had designated so does that mean I’m done all the paperwork needed?

Ooh, yes, I forgot about the first choice thing! Sorry! Seeing as you’ve already got it listed, then you’re all set. You’re in–congrats!
