National Merit Semifinalist Qualify Scores -- Class of 2012

Agree with Wolverine. No formal recognition, but a great incentive to make sure they do as well, if not better, their junior year. There are a few horror stories floating around about kids who do worse the following year so don’t get complacent.

I think the goal is to see a number as close to last year’s as possible to determine if the number has changed from last year for a specific state before the list is updated.

Congrats fellow Husker!..now…a 199 in sophmore year for my ds. Any predictions on what can occur with this year’s Junior PSAT?

My d’s went up 20 points from Sophomore to Junior

Similar story here, dramadad. With a year of maturity and taking a few practice tests, DS went up 32 points.

*!..now…a 199 in sophomore year for my ds. Any predictions on what can occur with this year’s Junior PSAT? *

My son had about a 200 as a soph, he raised it over 20 points. His friend raised his score by 50 points (that’s rare, I know).

S in Texas school did NOT make it with a 216. Fellow student with 224 DID.

So, it looks like TX and OH cut-offs went up from last year. :(

Yes, we’re definitely looking high and low for the silver lining right now!

In same boat, kjb. S did much better on SAT, so there is still hope for a scholarship.

OH = 214
DD scored 211 :(

well, at least she missed by several points, not just one. that would’ve been harder…

My daughter was informed today at school that she is a semifinalist. So the Indiana cut-off is less than or equal to 215.

Thanks, OhioMom3000, for pointing that out! His 2200 on the SAT is still something for him to be very proud of, and will hopefully still yield some great scholarships for him! (He’s actually embarrassed he didn’t make it - my heart is just breaking for him!)

Has anyone from Oklahoma heard anything?

We are in OK. My d did not hear anything about it at school today.

Sounds like Texas went up at least 2 points if 216 did nt make it and last year it was 215?

I’m a guidance counselor in Oklahoma. It did not come in the mail for us today.

What was your daughter’s score, dramadad?
