CCA will be holding a session tomorrow for National Portfolio Day and I've decided to go just now -__-, the problem is I don't have a portfolio, however I do have a recent sketchbook that I would like feed back on. It contains a lot of relevant works required for the major Im planning to study which is animation.
Do you think the representatives would bother looking over a sketchbook? The two schools Im aiming for are CalArts and CCA.
Feel free to share your past experiences with NPD

Celebrated, Definitely go to NPD with sketchbook in hand! My kiddo is an illustration major, but from what I’ve seen college reps love sketchbooks! Don’t be nervous or apologetic; in our experience the NPD reps are really nice and want to help! Good luck!

Yes, definitely go. My D is an illustration major as well, and adcoms were very interested in her sketch book. Also, take anything else you feel will help. Do you have any animation projects you have done, that you could load onto a laptop and bring?

Definitely go. Feedback’s always great and you’ll get an idea what certain schools are looking for. If nothing else, it’s a good time to ask all the questions you want to know about the school.

I currently attend an arts high school, and all of the seniors take their portfolios to Nat Portfolio day. I would really suggest going, even if a sketchbook is all you have. The reps will give you a lot of feedback and suggestions. Some reps aren’t the nicest, so don’t let a rude rep discourage you. Although your sketchbook includes relevant artwork to your major, I would suggest bringing other pieces if you have them as well. For example, a few seniors that are aiming for graphic design majors included pictures of 3D pieces. Studies are perfect to bring as well. But, if a sketchbook is the only thing you are comfortable with, then that’s okay as well
Good luck!

Make sure you read the various threads on NPD, for tips on how to get the most out of it (what to wear, bring, etc).

Whoops, looks like that last post was too late, as NPD was 2 days ago!! Let us know how it went!!
