My D received her letter today telling her that she is a National Scholars finalist. It came by way of Fed Ex. Does anyone know how many finalists they choose before narrowing it down?

I have no idea, it says online that it’s a “small” group but I don’t know what small is to them

just for reference, this past year there were 8 national scholar winners, 11 the year before

Congratulations mamagx3. My daughter is hoping to hear from Clemson regarding National Scholars also. I guess we will know in a day or two.

Well my daughter isn’t a finalist, but she is handling it well. Clemson was actually her second choice because Auburn has been her first choice since her first visit in April and with the NMF scholarship plus additional funds they offer she is definitely going there. It was still a good day, even with the Clemson loss as she was selected as a Comcast Leader and Achiever, which is a nice little scholarship. Hopefully mamagx3’s daughter will advance to the final stage so someone on the forum is recognized in that light.

Sorry to hear the your D wasn’t a finalist, proud_mom, but congratulations on all her other achievements and good luck to her at Auburn!

There were 36 finalists on the list that they emailed my D. It will be interesting to see how many actually go to the NS weekend. My D is already nervous about the interviews.

dang, does this mean I’m not a finalist? =/ Care to post all the names of the finalists?

If you didn’t get a Fed Ex package last week, then you are probably not a finalist.
