hi! i'm going to be applying to andover, milton, groton, middlesex, and deerfield this year. I have a 3.75 gpa this term and have a list of extra curriculars. Plus I'm going to get some pretty awesome rec's because I am the teacher's pet, in a good way.

I am a native american from california and i was wondering how much that would help.? It seems to me that the boarding schools i am applying to aren't very diverse except for andover. they are just a bunch of upper-class caucasian kids. i am not trying to be racist, but i was wondering if those boarding schools strive for diversity and if my urm status will help me in any way?

Thanks!

You have very well rounded stats and roller derby really sticks out to me as it probably will with admission officers. However, admission officers are probably going to want to see commmunity service somewhere on there. You look like an ideal candidate for financial aid and I believe your URM status will help you get into the schools you want.

These schools do have diverse population and not just Andover. The reason it might seem like they don’t is because of the sheer size of Andover, but trust me they do. There is someone on CC who’s daughter is actually going to Deerfield this year and she is an URM too: Alex825mom. You should check the website and ask some of the older CCers who attend some of these schools to get an idea of just how diverse these other schools are.

Good Stuff. Good Stats. Good Luck. :D

Hey California82. Have you considered applying through A Better Chance? It is an organization that assists kids of color with getting into independent day and boarding schools. It is a wonderful program. One of the main benefits is that you only have to do one application and there is no application fee. It also offers fee waivers for the SSAT, ISEE and SSS by NAIS (financial aid). The website is [A Better Chance](http://www.abetterchance.org).

Good luck!
