Naval Academy LOA

I was wondering if someone could help me. I recieved an LOA pending a nomination about three to four weeks ago I know that recieving an LOA is a very good thing but I'm afraid to be happy about it because i dont know how greatly it improves your chances of gaining an appointment. If someone could explain what exactly an LOA does for me that would be greatly appreciated. Also I was wondering if anyone knew when the New Jersey senators and congressmen sent letters to those recieving nominations.

As far as I know a Letter of Assurance (LOA) is a guaranteed appointment to the Academy pending successful completion or receipt of the following:

Pass the CFA.
Clearance by DoDMERB. (certain disqualifications can be waived).
One nomination from one of the nominating authorities.

A LOA is a very rare and very good thing. You have an appointment if all other things go through. Good luck.

Thank you and if anyone knows when confirmations of a nomination are sent out in the state of New Jersey please let me know

Dear Prep 2010,

If you hear on your nom in New Jersey…can you please post with a subject heading of “Nomination Secured in the State of New Jersey-Class 2014”…

I will do look likewise…as I am in New Jersey as well…

What Congressional district are you in?

I am sure you interviewed with Lautenberg and Mendendez…correct?

Tx Pasquinel

I’m in the 1st congressional district and i recieved my nom from my MOC two weeks ago, but I don’t know when the senators send them but i did interview with both menendez and lautenburgs people
