I was just on my naviance account looking at various scattergrams for different colleges showing admissions statistics for previous students at my son's school. Some of the colleges are now coming up as the scattergrams being unavailable in order to protect students' privacy. Scattergrams for other colleges still come up just fine.

Anyone know what this is about?

At our school if there are 3 or less kids who have applied in one year they will not post the stats. They don’t want anyone to figure out who the students are by stats

Especially if your school is new to Naviance, you’ll see this a lot. Our school started last year. If there aren’t more than a couple of kids who applied to a particular school, they won’t show the stats, because it’s then too easy to figure out who is who and thus know other student’s GPA and SAT/ACT scores. This is all supposed to be non-identifiable. Once there are more than 3 or 4 students, the scattergram will show (although sometimes say if only one got accepted it still might not show - again, would give away private info).

OK thanks, this makes sense. Although it is not foolproof. I remember looking at various scattergrams earlier this fall where son’s school had 150 applications to one college in two years, only one accept out of about 10 was a serious outlier and it was easy to figure out who that student was. But otherwise I understand it. Thank you for the clarification.
