I'm a MCJROTC cadet, and we have an inspection tomorrow to prepare us for a Navy drill meet, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to describe the navy ranks. Like if an Inspector asks you to describe the ranks of Gunnery Sergeant, I would say, "Sir, the rank of Gunnery Sergeant is, 3 stripes up, 2 stripes down, crossed rifles in the middle. A link to a website with this information (how to describe navy ranks) would help me alot. Thank you in advance

Here is a website with the Marine Corps enlisted ranks/insignia. As far as describing them, be sure to the stripes on the top "chevrons" and the bottom stripes "rockers". Any insignia in the middle is called: "in the field".

For example, a Gunnery Seargent would be "3 chevrons up and 2 rockers down with crossed rifles in the field".

Hope this helps...this was the format we were taught over plebe summer so hopefully it is what they are looking for.
