NC State 2023 Admission thread

still haven’t heard back yet… any theories?

accepted!!

Son accepted. COE/Computer Science Intent.
1570 SAT
3.92 UWGPA
4.28 GPA
National Technical Honor Society and Cybersecurity
Identified as disabled (autism)
Weakness was only 1 AP.
In state (Wake)

Anyone else get spring 2020 admission? If so, what does your wolf paw notification look like? No congratulations letter like the deferral letter. It just has spring 2020 at the top- no place to accept admittance.

Son didn’t get in (Engineering) but as an OOS I didn’t expect him to. He has plenty of other options to include Va Tech so now we can move on.

Son got it, and we’re happy. His first choice was Life Sciences as he has A’s in AP Biology and a 36 on is ACT science score. But they slotted him for Arts Studies - Theater due to his emphasis on Theater. Honestly, it’s what he wants to do so I am no unhappy in anyway, but an in-state student with a 33 ACT, 36 on Science, straight A-s in Biology and Chemistry and a 1420 SAT got bumped from a Bio program…man it is SO competitive now.

Anyone having trouble setting up a mypack portal?

Got into COE.
Was deferred then accepted
1510 SAT 33 ACT, 4.3 UW. 7 AP including Calc Physics and Bio
Good luck to everyone.

@jules1022 I still haven’t heard back either, I’m going to call the admissions office on monday because I think something is wrong

Haven’t received any merit/financial aid info yet. Has anyone that was accepted this round of RD received info related to merit/FA?

facts, when do we hear about merit?

I was accepted early decision in January and only received notice of my financial aid yesterday. Hopefully it won’t take that long for you guys to hear.

Hopefully not since people will need to decide one way or another in 5 weeks.

Our daughter was deferred, then waitlisted with decision by June 15th. Thank you for sharing stats for those who were also deferred or waitlisted, as this shows how competitive getting into State is this year. It’s amazing the number of students accepted into other great schools but not state. She’s been accepted into UNC Charlotte’s School of Architecture (which she

Deferred, then accepted (for second choice major)
In state, Wake county
SAT/ACT:1370/29
GPA: 3.47UW/3.9W- both went up since the deferral!
First choice major: Comp sci
Second choice major: Poli sci

My son very similar. 1st choice comp sci, 2nd exploratory. Deferred then accepted to exploratory. Forsyth county. Top 10% competitive high school. 29/1320. Kinda knew comp sci was a stretch.

For those of you still waiting on official word… my son’s account changed to Spring 2020, but no letter on Friday. He DMd admissions and messaged admissions via Facebook on Saturday- they said it “most likely” means he got in for Spring. He also spoke with a recruiter he has a close relationship with in the department he has applied to- she called Saturday night to say the same thing - he “most likely” got in for Spring. He emailed admissions and received an email back from the Director of Operations saying his letter was “not released as planned on Friday” and that he should get something by Tuesday. We were hoping to get a verbal confirmation, but we’ve waited this long what is another 24-48 hours?

Denied

Any chance a waitlisted student could still be offered a spot for the spring 2020 start? I know it’s very unlikely to get accepted in the fall as a waitlist applicant…

Admissions office said this year’s acceptance rate is 46%. I think that’s the lowest I’ve heard of for NC State. My son didn’t get in. He has other great options but they really overlooked a gem (if I do say so myself :D) What on earth are they looking for?!
