Deferred, then Accepted
ACT 24…posting this to give hope to those that might look at this in the future that have lower test scores but great on everything else.
@wishforncstate What program did you apply for?
Deferred then accepted for Spring 2020.
Does anyone know when we are likely to hear about pack assist scholarships? And how common it is to be awarded one? My financial aid was not as good as we hoped.
@ncsubound where do find the financial aid info located?
Leaving this here for people later:
Accepted Bio major (Chem second choice)
SAT:1360 superscored
GPA: 3.5
Leaving this for future applicants- don’t give up hope!
Deferred then Accepted for Spring 2019
Sport Management (first choice)
SAT: 1270 (superscored)
UW GPA: 3.55
W GPA: 3.77
Wake County
What I believe were the tipping points:
-
Straight As spring semester junior year and fall semester senior year. Only 1 AP class in those two semesters, others were honors. Grades steadily improved from freshman to senior year as he started to embrace the idea that his grades would dictate his future choices.

My son made a personal connection with the recruiter at the CNR. He is genuinely passionate about working in sports as a career and all of his life and activities reflect that. After he went on a tour he stayed in touch about once a month via email to update the recruiter on things he was doing that were relevant to his interest in this major. He also attended two classes as a guest and stayed in touch with the professor. I can’t say enough about how encouraging and enthusiastic these two people were for my son. They didn’t promise him anything, but made it clear he was the kind of kid they would love to have as part of the program. Everything he told them about they cheered him on. It gave him hope and made him work hard to leave it all on the table. When he let them know he got in they were so happy for him and to have him be a part of the program that it makes me know he is in the right place.
Go Pack!
@akinsc It was under the financial aid tab in mypackportal and they also sent it in the mail. I got admitted in January so it might not be out yet if you just got accepted.
Does anyone know if merit scholarships are automatically considered for? Or do i have to apply through the packAssist to be considered for anything?
Waitlisted I think. they indicated they" cannot offer admission at this time. " OOS 1410 SAT 4.1 weighted GPA. Too bad, nice school.
It looks like they only accept a handful of waitlisted students. Please post if you were and hear anything between now and June 15th!!
Update for future folks…Seems like a possible flaw in admissions process, but there’s a chance that a person who is accepted into their second choice (first choice very competitive) then a waitlisted person is later accepted into that competitive choice (because space is available based on acceptances), OVER that first student…I may send a note to admissions as even though that % is small (waitlist then selection)…seems unfair to not do that second pass.Of course, if your the wait-listed person, your all for it!
Do you know of people who haven waitlisted and already notified they were accepted??
@besitl - No one yet. Here’s what I was told by admissions this morning: “We accepted 43.7% of our over 30,000 applicants. We do not have any stats on how many will be accepted off the waitlist. This depends on how many students have confirmed their offer of admission and students on the waitlist will be considered on a space available basis.” I was hoping they could give me more information as to how many had actually confirmed their offer of admission since it has been over a week since the deadline. If their freshman class target size was 4750 and they can tell us how many confirmed we’d have a better idea if they will pull anyone from the waitlist.
They apparently waitlisted around 4000 kids this year, the question is how many people accepted the offer. Let’s hope they accept more kids off the list in comparison to last year.
last year they wait listed 4000 kids. 2000 of them chose to accept it. Out of the 2000 people waitlisted only 2 people got in. The chances of being accepted from weight list is like 1%. They even said that on their ncsu facebook q and a. I believe it also may be on their website.
That’s actually not right lol. Last year around 4000 kids accepted their spot on the waitlist, out of that group only 20 were eventually accepted. Obviously the odds of getting in are pretty crappy regardless.

My son just got his official wait list rejection letter posted in his Wolfpaw portal this morning.
Rejected as well
I don’t think they took anybody off the waitlist this year
