My status changed today to “being reviewed by an admissions officer”

and @samantha7
I have a 3.2 gpa, I’m a sophomore at UNCW, after this semester I’ll have 75 credit hours…which won’t all transfer but that’s ok and I applied for transfer into either genetics or bio.

@samantha7
CC 2.8 gpa
ECU (current school) 3.1 gpa
90 credits after this semester (only 64 guaranteed to transfer)
You?

@jaclynhagan
@sochisticated

I have a 3.26 GPA, Freshman from SUNY Oneonta (State University of New York).
Will have 33 credits by the end of this semester. My status changed to ‘Your file has been scheduled for review by an Admissions Officer’ 13 days ago.

Applied to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, applied on March 16th. This waiting is a bummer This is my #1 school to transfer to, I’m so anxious.

Uncg ischool courses (senior year HS) 2.9
CC Gpa: 2.8ish
Current Gpa Wcu 3.4
I’ll have around 66 credits to transfer

so nobody has heard back in terms of a transfer decision, fall 2013…?

@samantha7 I still haven’t heard back and I submitted my application in January. My status changed yesterday to saying it is scheduled to be reviewed by an admissions officer…

@jaclynhagan

what college did you apply to?

I submitted my application in January before the priority deadline and it went through review pretty quickly. I am deferred. They are waiting for my final grades at the end of the semester.

Current GPA: 4.0
I’ll have 33 credits by the end of this semester. All of my credits from last semester have been accepted to transfer.

@Undergradu

so you’re basically in, they just need this semester grades…did they tell you when they would give you a decision after you send in your spring transcript?

I have now been deferred as of today…

Apparently they want my final transcript that will say that I completed my associates degree before they can make a final decision, but exams end in two weeks and the community college will not update grades until the end of May at least.

I don’t know whether I should just forget about NC State and reserve a spot at Appalachian now because I can’t wait much longer to make final preparations (sending forms for the GI Bill, finding a place to live, etc.) It is really frustrating.

Hey everyone, I have been following this thread for a few days and wanted to put in what I know in maybe that it will help one of you. I submitted my application in January and heard back from admissions about a month ago. I have 72 hours and have already completed two years of college. I am going to be a Meteorology major and have a 3.4 GPA overall.

With all that being said I was told a few things in my communication with admissions at NC State. First is that we have to know that since it is after April 1st, all admission decisions for transfers will be made on a needs basis, it all depends on the size of the freshman class and how much room is available in your major. So at this point even if you meet all requirements you still might not be accepted due to the fact that there is no room. Second is that like ravenfeather I have been deferred due to the fact that I will not meet my math requirement until after this semester. After talking with people who have done this before and being on several forums with admissions I have concluded that if they are waiting on this semesters transcript you will know your decision in early June.

Also ravenfeather I have been accepted into FSU and though NC State is my dream school I have to start to make the steps within FSU, playing the role like I am going to FSU. If your heart is set on NC State then keep some hope but make sure at this point in the game you confirm Appalachian and start sending in all your information to there in order that your ducks will be in a row if you do not get into NC State. In my case with FSU I have been completing health forms, housing, and food plans, just in case that if I don’t go to NC State I can immediately turn around and be just fine.

Oh and one more thing, if any of you are thinking about applying for housing anywhere its too late! I did FSU housing last week and I’m 7,202 in line!!! Start looking for off campus housing and roomates now if you go anywhere! Please ask me any question and ill try to help you guys the best I can! Good Luck!

I am confused. I applied and submitted and paid for my application on January 22nd. Yes, it is after April 1st now but that isn’t my fault? I submitted mine before the February 1st priority deadline and I STILL haven’t heard back. I am applying to the college of sciences for either genetics or a biology major and I will be entering in as a junior…so why would it matter how big the freshman class was? and why would I be subjected to space availability when I submitted my application in January? It says on the website that they only accept if they have room for you if you submitted your application AFTER the April 1st deadline, but I submitted mine in January. My application went under review in early March…and I still haven’t heard back. I also met all the requirements for transfer two semesters ago. The classes I’m taking now are higher level bio courses that do not matter in my acceptance so they wouldn’t defer me to see my spring grades. You just confused me. Sorry I’m not denying your knowledge, but it doesn’t make sense for me.

@Aquadart

Thank you so much for posting here, especially since the information you have posted reassured me that I need to focus more on the universities that have already sent an acceptance letter at the moment than NC State. Yes, it is the school I would really love to attend since I want to major in biology and possibly enter their veterinarian school program, but I can still transfer over to their graduate school with a bachelors, right? I would just have to perform well in the next two years. It’s just that I cannot wait until early June for a decision that may or many not be positive one.

You majoring in Meteorology? That is so cool. My parents used to always say that I should have majored in that since I would always watch the weather channel and view other weather-related websites like a hawk when I was younger. :)

@jaclynhagan

I completely understand what you are saying, especially since I was going through the same thing. I applied in late December and only started hearing back about the admissions process a month ago until today when NC State deferred me. Basically, they said I was not competitive enough at the moment and wanted to see spring semester grades before they could make a final decision, however, since you said that you have already completed courses needed for admission, that should have not been an issue. Even though we are not part of the freshmen class, there are only so many spots available for transfer students regardless if you are being placed in as a sophomore, junior, or senior. Trust me, I was and still very upset that it has taken this long for a decision. Have you contacted the admissions office yet? I know it probably won’t help knowing when you might get a decision, but perhaps they haven’t received something (like a transcript)? That is what happened to me six weeks ago when they never received my UNC Greensboro (courses I was taking during high school) and said I needed to send that in again before making a decision. There has to be a reason why your wolfpaw account has not updated in such a long time, especially if you submitted your application before the February 1st deadline like I did.

@jaclynhagan

I didn’t want it to come across as I knew more than you did but that is really all I have been told. When my application status did not change for a few weeks I constantly called admissions to see if there were updates. Maybe thats why my turn around time was a lot faster that what is normal, but I just stayed on top of it. As a transfer student I do not know what admissions are thinking and the best advice I can give you is call them. It never hurts your chances to bug them a little. Also it sounds to me like you should have been accepted a long time ago. I would be just confused as you.

@ravenfeather

Yeah that was the same for me! I moved to Florida for a little and I used to crazy when the hurricanes came through! haha Also for graduate school I am pretty sure that you have to apply to that particular school and it is much harder to get in. Grades would be a huge factor in grad school, so good luck! I don’t know all your story but if you meet all requirements for NC State, getting in is still 50/50, so don’t lose hope!

Sorry I didn’t mean to be mean, I feel like I came off as mean to you, I was just having a lot of questions. I am just so frustrated with them. I have emailed them twice now and the only emails I have received back have said they don’t know when a decision will be made. I guess I will call them tomorrow. My wolfpaw account did change though, finally after two months, a couple days ago and it says now it is scheduled to be reviewed by an admissions counselor when before it said they were determining which credits would be accepted for transfer.

@jaclynhagan

No not at all, I totally understand where you are and how you are feeling and I wish too that I just could get rid of this and know now! haha and I can help out the best I can! Phone calls for me have worked the best in communication. As for the recent change to being “reviewed by an admissions counselor”, have they posted a link on your wolf paw to your personal evaluation summary? If that is not up then that link should be up there soon! If I can remember correctly, the three steps from reviewed to posting evaluation summary to deferred decision took me at max two to three weeks. Depending on how busy they are now and how much they have to process, I would say that you are already on the home stretch! :D

Checked with admissions on Friday… said to check Wolfpaw this coming Sunday afternoon for decision. Transfer application in since late Jan. Applying to Engineering. AS in Engineering from community college instate. AP credits and 3.3 GPA. Got notice this morning… ACCEPTED!!! Good luck everyone!!

Found out yesterday that I was ACCEPTED(: all that worrying for nothing!

found out this morning that I’m deferred. They want this semester grades, which I totally understand. Honestly I expected that decision. Got a few more weeks to wait! -__-

I just checked my application and I got accepted also. I really was not expecting the acceptance but im happy.
