Hi, I've been accepted to UNC Chapel Hill and NC State and am having trouble deciding. I am running out of time so any answer would be greatly appreciated. I plan on eventually becoming either a physician or a dentist, so I really need to go somewhere that has a good advising department for health professions. Initially I thought UNC Chapel Hill would be the best choice, but after attending their open house i'm not quite convinced that they offer much guidance to pre med students. On the other hand, NC State has really impressed me with the Health PAC organization. It seems very well structured and offers a great route for any health career. Also, I think I would have an easier time getting a high science gpa at NCSU than at UNC, which is crucial for med school admissions. I have also been invited to the Scholars Program at State, and am an alternate for the Honors College (though I probably won't get it). For these reasons I am leaning towards State. What I don't like about NC State is that I will already be taking courses geared toward my major as a freshman. If i don't like the major I am in, it might be difficult to switch majors and graduate in time. At UNC, I would have time to explore different fields before declaring a major. UNC is also the more prestigious school and more well known for its academics (although i know you shouldn't pick a college solely on it's reputation). I'm not sure if UNC's reputation would give me an edge when applying to a professional school. Sorry if this is a lot, but I would really appreciate any comments! Thanks
