I am currently at UNC Chapel Hill but have applied to transfer to NC State in Spring 2018. I currently have 58 credits from a community college with a 4.0 GPA and am doing pretty well at UNC so far, so I never really thought about possibility of being declined, until I found out about NC State’s math requirement. I took statistics at the community college and since that fulfilled UNC’s math requirement, I never took any other math class. Well, statistics does not fulfill State’s math requirement and an applicant needs to have a college-level math to be considered competitive. Applying for state was a last minute decision and I was not able to fit math into my academic plans.
Would they really deny a student with a 4.0 GPA from a community college just because I do not currently have a college math requirement? The admissions staff were very vague.
