I was wondering if anyone on here knew the process of signing up with NCAA Clearinghouse. My brother is currently a senior and is interested in playing basketball for DI&II schools and his coaches think he has a favorable chance of playing for either division. I just wanted to know when you fill out college applications would you state you have an interest in playing sports at the particular institution or what? Any feedback will be appreciated! Thank you!

you can register with the clearinghouse online i believe (i dont really know, my mom did that)
but when you send your SAT scores out if you want to play in college you need to send them to the clearinghouse too

has he already talked to coaches or he just planning on walking on or something?

aww okay thanks! my brother is a procrastinator, he says hes spoken to his coaches about it but i dont want it to be to late for him, you know? i will look into registering with clearinghouse online

I think she meant the college bball coaches. ;)

The clearinghouse is a pain in the ***.

Each HS has a coordinator or GC that is responsible for reporting to the NCAA Clearinghouse. Signing up is easy. Just go online and sign up. I personally have found that, although their website can be difficult to navigate at times, that the NCAA folks are very helpful on the phone. Your brother should definitely do it sooner rather than later because if he does get recruited he will not want any delays. If there is a particular D 2 or D 3 school he likes, he should call the coach and introduce himself or send a packet including a game dvd (not a highlight tape), unofficial transcript, SAT and other scores, and references-including his HS and Club Coaches phone numbers. He should not wait until he applies or arrives on campus. If there are any low division one schools he is interested in, he should also send a packet because sometimes they take recruited walk-ons. In that case, it would be unlikely he would see many minutes during games, but it could help him get admitted to the school of his choice and be privy to the training and other advantages of being a member of the BB team. Good luck to him.
