When is it neccessary to finish this out before the Jr year or during the Sr year begining. Do I need to send in my transcript.

You can create an account any time during high school. There will be a counselor at your high school who handles their part of the NCAA paperwork. Once you register, the HS takes care of everything, including sending transcripts ad test scores.

Our HS does NOT take care of everything and there is not a counselor who handles NCAA paperwork. We had to notify and pay the school for transcripts and get them sent. We also had to send our own test scores. It is not final until you get final senior grades sent.

Do not count on your hs counselor. Our hs knew nothing about the process as they had never had a DI or DII athlete. I had to do all of the work and I suggest that you go to the NCAA website and download the 2009 Student-Athlete Guide. Read it thoroughly and contact the NCAA with any questions.

Once you set up an account, it has to be finalized during senior year (you can't finalize it before then). There be notes on the account website letting you know what still needs to be done.

You, the student must fill out the online questionnaires. You must be sure your school mails in your 11th grade transcript, then your 12th grade final transcript, and proof of graduation. Also you are in charge of having CB send in official SAT/ACT scores. The NCAA no longer accepts test scores from your high school transcript.

Make sure you get the Jr year transcript sent as soon as it is available. Coaches usually need this to be done before an official visit can take place.

Do I need to send in my 11th Grade transcript NOW or wait tell next yr , I dont have a clue here.

For the NCAA, wait until your junior year is finished, so you will have a complete transcript.

If a coach has requested a transcript, send him/her one now so he/she will have an idea of your GPA, rank, test scores, etc. Then send another when you have completed the year.

The NCAA answers questions on their 800 number. I have called them a few times over the years and they always have given me detailed, helpful information. Please call them if you have any questions. Open your account online anytime in high school. Send in the junior transcripts asap after junior year. Same with test scores. There is always a big jam up during early summer, so the more you can get done earlier, the better. It's a good idea to make sure every coach who is recruiting you has a copy of your unofficial transcript and copies of your test score results so they know ahead of time that you will be a qualifier. That can sway a coach in your direction.

Hadn’t paid much attention to D2’s NCAA status recently but we went on the site last night to finish her amateurism certification and noticed her final transcript was checked as completed!!! We were surprised as she doesn’t graduate until June. I called the hotline and they were soooo nice!!! Said she was an early academic qualifier based on grades through junior year and test scores. I didn’t know they did that so it was a nice surprise. I thought we had done something wrong and the woman laughed and said D2 had done something very right. Very nice customer service!:)

My daughter’s HS counselor was very helpful and she said that the transcripts can be sent as early as the beginning of the second semester of the junior year. When you register at the NCAA Clearinghouse, there is a form you can print out and sign to take to the school that shows where to send the transcripts. It is not a required form, but it might be very helpful for a highschool that is unfamiliar with NCAA athletes.

NorthMinnesota: You may want to check with the NCAA again. My D just went through this this same scenario: When completing her amateurism cert, she also noticed her final transcript is marked complete. So we called the NCAA hotline and they explained even though her earlier transcript met all the course requirements, however she still has to provide PROOF of graduation. They explained this could be EITHER Letter on School letterhead sent (or faxed) directly by the school OR an official final transcript that shows she graduated. Her HS school will likely require us to order ( and pay for) an official transcript to be sent anyway.

It’s very helpful to the college coach for fall sports if your kid shows up for his freshman year with EVERYTHING signed off from the NCAA Clearinghouse. I’m not sure if kids can practice with the team, let alone compete, if this isn’t all finished. This was a big topic at the first team meeting, fall of freshman year. Good to stay on top of it.

Got our notice from college that D2 is set to go as far as Clearinghouse stuff and is academically certified. Called again just to make sure even without the final transcript and they said she is set. Will probably send it anyway.

even though im only looking to play DIII, would it be a good idea to register for the clearinghouse to get visibility (i play football).

I don’t think it provides visibility. It is only a tool used by DI and DII schools to make certain all eligibility requirements for those particular divisions are met.

It doesn’t provide visibility - but is still a good idea. Cost is very low, effort is also very low - and it is one of the first questions D1 and D2 coaches ask you.

Hi i was just wanted some feedback on my chances with eligibility and maybe waiver with ncaa, I have been accepted into good D1 school for Fall 09 but now NCAA is disputing as I am 1/2 a unit short on my core courses and only did 1 year of social science as I was unaware at the time… I was just wondeing if anybody knows if NCAA would make an acception or if this could potentially ruin my college enrolloment? very nervous.

Call the Clearinghouse hotline ASAP. They are very informative! I would think you could pick up what you need in summer school.

I am coming from Australia and I don’t think I could make the summer school…as I cannot enter the US without a visa and can only get a visa when I am cleared … so its all a little tricky and time is running out? I was just curious if other athletes have been in similar situations and have be cleared on time or on a waiver (not sure completely what a waiver is) thankyou so much though!!
