NCSSM Class of 2016- Future Applicants

@PulpNonFiction‌ I can’t help you with your issue but I just wanna say I love your username lol. I love the movie Pulp Fiction.

By the way, guys: I got accepted into the online class of 2016 for NCSSM. I’m not that upset about it, anymore. No matter what you got, you guys are all great. Have great lives!

@trashboat‌ Lol, thanks. I sent NCSSM and e-mail about it, but I don’t know if they are going to reply back fast enough. I think that it says I accepted the offer, but not sure. The really should have something say in BIG, BOLD LETTERS, that says whether or not you accepted their invitation. I’ll tell you guys what the e-mail says if they respond. Ugh, hasn’t even been the first day of school, and I’m already struggling. xD

UPDATE: So, to clarify any questions. I got my e-mail from Admissions and they said this. “When you ACCEPT, the server is updated and a message appears telling you that you will hear from us on Tuesday.” This message signifies that you have accepted the offer. If you haven’t seen this message, i suggest reviewing your UniApp accounts. P.S. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into either the residential or online programs. If you are appealing, than I give you the best of luck. If you have decided that you do not want to pursue NCSSM anymore, I give you the best of luck as well, and I wanted to say that it is NOT the end of the world. Everyone who applied is courageous enough to put themselves at a risk for rejection. You guys are awesome!

I am a future unicorn!! i got innnnn

Do you think I should make a Facebook so I can get to know current and soon-to-be ncssm students. I am so excited for Welcome day. Do we have to take a test on welcome day? When do we get to choose our classes? Also, I am not able to attend the first welcome day on Saturday April 26 because I have a State Science Olympiad competition. Does anyone know the make-up day??? Thanks!

@PulpNonFiction‌ So if it says again congratulations and a bunch of other stuff and an email by tuesday the 8th, then it’s okay? It’s officially accepted?
@NCSSM123 The facebook page for NCSSM students is great. I might also have to attend the make-up day, so does anybody know? I’m pretty sure it’s in May, but im not sure

The second welcome day is May 1st, and heyyy, I’m going to SciOly too! I’ll see you there!
YES, Make a FB, tons of people are on it, and it’s amazing, because you can ask questions and get info about clubs or anything you might want to know. Not sure about choosing classes though, although someone told me that would be welcome day (?)
Congrats, and welcome!

And feel free to message me your email and/or FB or other info, and we can talk :)

Hope to see all you SciOly’ers at the state competition :D

By the way, I found out something for people who didn’t make it. For those who were nonfinalists, did you apply for SVSM too? Because they put a law a few years ago that state that you can’t do SVSM and the NCSSM residental program UNLESS you were waitlisted, and as you all know, the only way to be waitlisted is if you were a nonfinalist in NCSSM residental program. D’you guys get where I’m going at? I hope so, because I was a Finalist for SVSM…

I am a non finalist for both programs.
I really want to go to this dream school. I want it more than anything else in the world right now… would ncssm see my desire? I read so many blogs and sites about ncssm and while reading one, i came across a debate about a kid regretting that he went to ncssm. Some of those who were accepted may not even enjoy their life at this school. Some applied because of their parents but others really want it. There are people out there who are willing to do whatever it takes to become a unicorn family.

I’m thinking about appealing, but should i appeal for residential or online?
I feel i can make it to the online waitlist but i want residential more.
After the status change on April 3, I thought a lot about who I am and what my future will look like.
I just can’t imagine my life without NCSSM, Believe that i tried hard to forget it all and to make the most of my life at my current school. I tried thinking about how to be even better and to be a great student here. But i just can’t.

Do you think ncssm will see how much i love this school and accept me? or am i completely hopeless.

Im actually starting to be happy that i didnt get in, because if i get in later, it would make it that much more precious.

I’ll eventually accept it either way, but i really love ncssm

Hmm. Try your best, and I have a feeling you’ll probably get into whatever you want, as long as you truly do want it, and express that in your appeal.
I think it would be good to appeal to both, if you get into at least one of them, you won’t feel a sense of loss.
I wish you all the best, and I do hope you get to be a fellow Unicorn :)

@pinkrose452 You are not the only one who feels like he/she belongs at NCSSM. Personally, I have been wanting to get into this school since I was a little kid. I love science and math. If I were you, I would emphasize why you feel like you belong there and how you plan on benefiting the school as a whole, not only yourself. After all, most people who apply to NCSSM do have some incentive to get in whether it be intrinsic or extrinsic motivation.

@FlamencoAngel I am so excited for welcome day and the scioly competition! I just made a fb and joined the NCSSM class of 2015-2016 group!!! I cannot wait for school to start. I still cannot believe I made it in.

@trajenous‌ I think that you may be onto something here. Were you rejected by NCSSM Residential but made SVSM? If so, we are in the same boat.

@songbird13‌ Apparently, but I still have this nagging idea in my mind that keeps on saying, “What if they don’t get your acceptance? You will lose this opportunity because of your lack of accepting or declining an invitation.” Sooooo… I’m just letting Jesus take the wheel from here. Hahaha…

@PulpNonFiction‌ Same! I’m going to call admissions tomorrow to double-check.

lol jesus… i pray to him a lot lately. @PulpNonFiction‌

Also thank you @FlamencoAngel and @NCSSM123 for your words!!

I do really hope you all love NCSSM and enjoy your time there, have lots of fun and grow up to be people who others would look up to, people who love the community more than themselves, people who give back to this world, and the people who would be happy in life.

I wish the best things to happen to you guys who will be unicorns and also to those like me who didnt make it. Im hoping this experience would be like medicine for me and i think whatever happens i’ll make sure to make the absolute best of it.

@NCSSM123 im positive im not the only one. most of the people who applied love the school and probably feel the same as i do. I first heard of NCSSM in 8th grade. I saw an article about this school in a newspaper (I still have it!) anyways ever since, i visited this school often, searched all about it, and wanted it more and more. So then I started live and plan to be accepted here. I made a few senior and junior NCSSM friends and asked sooo many questions about this school. While talking to these people, I realized something they had in common. They had almost the same exact personality. With every question i asked, everyone replied with so much detail and care. They obviously loved talking about NCSSM, either that or they just love helping others. I realized that NCSSM would choose students based on their inner truth. Not by how good the kid’s gpa is or how good they did on tests, but by how well rounded they are. Eversince i realized this, I did ever so many volunteer opportunities, tried to win awards like “Most likely to cheer you up” and “Most improved” awards and not only 1st place math awards. I started to value how NCSSM prefers well rounded students rather than 1st class ranks students.

If you care, the main reason i want to go here is because it is a residential school filled with good and smart people. If someone lives around these people, you cant help but to become a better person. If i were to live with these students, I would grow as a person. I would become a better human being. Who cares if you’re the best at making A’s on tests but hate loving others or caring about things around them? Academics is indeed important. But im saying it shouldn’t be the only reason someone wants to go to NCSSM. Its my personal opinion, but i believe that the experience of living with others and bonding as a family will be more valuable than the ap classes offered. NCSSM has the key to life long friends, the key to better educational opportunities, and the key to an inspiring environment.

In the meantime: What do you call a unicorn’s best friend?

Corn Dog!!
