@hh1d33 I’m also from district 9. How well did you do grade-wise and on the SAT, if you dont mind me asking? Thanks
@LolImANoob oh that’s in district 12, is it not? I’m in that district!! It’s going to be tough, there’s a TON of people applying from my school and the two schools near me (like maybe 20ish per school?) good luck to both of us though!!
i just turned in my apps. that was a terrible 4 weeks of essay writing.
Congrats! I submitted mine yesterday too I had finished writing them a few months ago but I waited because I still had important stuff coming into add. Good luck everyone!
I’ve noticed a few people freaking out over how competitive their district is, and other people taking a shot in the dark. Here’s some stuff I did in Excel http://i.imgur.com/ntwS7Nz.png based on 2013 data, which I found in the proposal to the General Assembly about the Morganton campus.

The link censored itself, ugh.
Are you serious
for those reading, if you replace the stars with |i [m] g (u) r| (w/o all the parentheses and spaces) you can see it.
Thanks for the data!
Thank you, lol
and now we wait.
Good luck everyone!
@smellslikelemons Sorry, but I do not understand. How do you access the data and why is it censored by CC?
I’m excited to receive my UniApp login today!
@Gandhiswag I’m not sure why they censored it, but they replace imgur.com with ***** because they don’t want photos being shared. I put all those things in because the censoring software is not usually very smart and I was p sure that would get through
edit: huh, they don’t block imgur, just when it’s in a url.
(test): i.imgur.com imgur.com http://i.imgur.com/ntwS7Nz.png
It looks like they might censor this later and not at the time of posting? (in case they do and I can’t edit this the website is lmgµr,c0m)
Hey guys! I am applying to NCSSM c/o 2018 as well. Already submitted my application, but out of curiosity, does anyone know how competitive CD 2 is?
@neurofuture I linked it literally on the same page of the thread. It censored itself, so read the next few posts to figure out how to check. If you can’t figure it out, I believe CD2 was the most competitive of all, but just check the link.
Wow, that’s pretty weird! I’ve heard my district is historically uncompetitive, and this just proved it! However, I personally know more than 25 people applying from just three nearby schools (I can’t even imagine how many across the district!), so this year must be a fluke year for us. @giantsnails thanks for the link!
Hello applicants,
I’m currently in my junior year at NCSSM. I know my advice will not be taken seriously because you’ll assume this won’t apply to you, but hear me out. If you’re applying from a nice high school in an area like the triangle or Charlotte, you’re better off not coming here. This school absolutely destroyed any chances of attending the college that I wanted to. I honestly do not know one student here who was able to maintain straight A’s, and C’s quickly become a way of life. Do yourself a favor and consider seriously whether you want to be a part of this program. Good luck!
Hey @Fitymi ,
Thanks for your input. I was wondering specifically why you haven’t done well at SSM. Was it just because you couldn’t handle the rigor or something else? Did you get to participate in Research? I’m from the Triangle, and I personally know multiple people who currently go to or have graduated from NCSSM with all A’s who were admitted to the Ivies, MIT, Stanford, and other top schools. They absolutely loved the experience. Some specific things they mentioned were Miniterms, Research, and a competitive environment in which they thrived. I’m not trying to be rude or anything; I just want to try and get the holistic picture and both sides of the argument.
Thanks!
Does anyone want to make a class of 2018 blog or something with me, like https://ncssm2017.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/ ? If one was made, would any of y’all post on it?
@Fitymi but why slam the school based on your experience? Lots of others have attended the school and come out on top, I have a friend also from the Charlotte-Meck area who attended 'SSM and he is currently a student in an Ivey league. Not to say it is better to go to NCSSM than some home schools, just saying that everyone’s experience is going to be different.
