I have been accepted to a few universities for chemical engineering and i have narrowed my choices to these two, but i am really torn between them, both are very similar but i cant decide on either one ... help please!

Both are very good, but while NC state is better for chem eng, VT is better for engineering all around, which ranking should i consider more? ChemEng ranking or engineering in general?

VT has all the small details i like (good food, school spirit, hotter girls, happier students, nicer campus, safer campus) but it has two ENORMOUS downsides for me which are that the weather is not the best and that it is located in a small town ( Big downside for me), while NCSU is located in Raleigh..... should i really give that much importance to the location??

VT seems to have an advantage on the alumni connections and job opportunities as well as the reputation, but then NCSU seems to have more co-ops and study abroad ( or maybe its just that the VT page i saw has almost no information on that)

Both are very similar in cost ( NCSU is around 2000 less, which is something to factor in but not a deal braker)

i want a place with diversity and while both are not the most diverse schools out there, VT seems to have an advantage especially since 30 percent of its students are OOS

so, to conclude, i am leaning slightly towards VT but i feel the town location and weather are deal brakers, and i also dont know how to consider the rankings into my decision.... so any help you can give me or advice is very appreciated

Like you said, both are great and you can’t go wrong either way. I go to NC State so I will try to address some of the statements below:

Good food: There are about a million really great places to eat in Raleigh, especially the NCSU area. Seriously, I have lived all over the world, anything you want is here.

School Spirit: This is my 3rd college, I was a Tarheel before I joined the Wolfpack. School spirit is pretty much on par with them both, and that is saying a lot.

Hotter girls: I’ll have to take your word for it. Considering the NCSU girls are actually pretty hot, and we have Meredith (a private all girls college) right across the street from us, I have a hard time believing it though, haha.

Nicer campus: Probably, but State is pretty nice.

Safer campus: How so? When is the last time you heard of an incident happening on States campus? It is in a great area and campus police are always present. I mean as long as you don’t do something stupid like walk back to your dorm alone at 3am, you will be fine. I am interning in Atlanta right now right beside GaTech, State is Disneyland compared to this place.

You can go far as an ChemE from both schools. VT is better known overall, but NCSU isn’t too far behind. Either is a good choice, good luck.

I’m doing IE. At NC State you will have every opportunity to get involved with research. We also have a huge Co-op program that is encouraged from day 1. And I am not sure about other departments but my department definitely has the opportunity to study abroad in both Brazil and Prague particularly. But since you are an international, aren’t you already studying abroad, haha, just kidding. Anyways, we also have a pretty large number of internationals here as well. I am not sure of your country of origin, but we literally have representatives from anywhere and everywhere.
