ND Financial Aid/Low Income

I plan on applying to ND this upcoming fall and my grades are pretty good, I am an African American Catholic Female, um I hope to major in Political Science or Finance. I do come from a low income family, (my parents make about 45,000 a year, we are a family of 6) I'll also be the 1st person in my family to go to college. Sorry about giving you my whole life story lol. What I'm wondering is, if I were to be accepted into ND, how good are they with financial aid with a tuition so high?!

We have found that Notre Dame did a very nice job meeting our son’s financial need. When it is time for you to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) your family will get an “Expected Family Contribution”(EFC) - or the amount of money your parents are expected to contribute to your education, given your family’s economic situation. Notre Dame looks at that EFC - and works to put together a Financial Aid Package that covers all the rest of the costs.
Since you’re not at that stage yet, you can get an idea of how much may be covered should you be accepted: Try out this Net Price Calculator for Notre Dame. You’ll need some information from your parent’s current (or previous year) tax forms, and it will give you an idea of how much you would be expected to pay toward a Notre Dame education. You don’t have to register to fill it out, you can complete the forms as a “guest” and therefore remain anonymous, if you wish.
