Hello everyone, I have a very quick question. I was looking at the ND Statistics (http://admissions.nd.edu/apply/admission-statistics/) and there are two stats for the SAT one in the big teal letters and under that is say a concordance to the new SAT under it. I’m assuming one of these must be wrong since both top scores are under 1600. Does anyone know which of these two sets of scores is the accurate one?
I believe that ND only counted the Math and Reading scores on the old SAT, which is why you see the lower numbers (so max 1600) for the old as well as the new.
The reason they are both under 1600 is because those figures represent the middle 50% of accepted students. That is not the range of all scores, just the ones in the middle. The first number is the 25th percentile, and the second is the 75th. So that means that 25 percent of students are above that range and 25 percent are below. Does that make sense?
@callogan44 not really, sorry. Im just confused on why the bold number is a new SAT range, but then there is a note under it saying the concordance to the new SAT. Since in sure ill have to understand the percentiles when looking at colleges could you try to explain that part again?
As noted in post #1 it could well be that the bold number is the Math + Reading score of the old SAT and the new SAT numbers are below.
Oh, I see what you mean. You’re saying that the old one should be out of 2400. Yes, I believe @happy1 is correct in saying that the first number is the math+reading of the old SAT, and the second one is what that translates to on the new SAT.
