Need 4 credits of English but only have 3?

I really want to go to UW. They require certain amounts of credits to be admitted and 4 years of English are required. However, I have 3 credits at the moment, and for my last year of high school I'm going abroad to Germany through an exchange program. How can I get the 4th credit of English? The school I'll be going to is taught completely in German. And the English class doesn't cut it for UW, I guess since it's taught outside of the U.S. Help!

Maybe you can find an online AP English course. I’m sure someone else on CC has had experience with this and can shed some light on it.

Try a class at the University of Missouri Online High School.
or Indiana University High School

There are other online schools, too. These are two of the lowest-priced schools. They are accredited. Arrange ahead of time for your approval so you know your work will qualify with your high school.

Ahhh thank you very much. These actually look legitimate.

In addition to that, you may want to check out.

[Welcome to Florida Virtual School: an online e-learning solution](http://www.flvs.net)

It has a global virtual school which is also accredited for HS courses, honors and AP. :)

The rules all change when you do a year abroad as an exchange student. Pick up the telephone and call the UW admissions office. Ask for the person who deals with applicants who are in your situation. Be polite, but be a bit of a pest until they find someone who is expert. They do indeed have a way of dealing with this. People have been doing exchange programs for many years.

If the admissions officers turn out to be completely useless, pick up the telephone and call the main office of the exchange program. Their counselors deal with students just like you every single year and they will have good ideas for you.

Wishing you all the best.
