need a 200 or 270 point jump...

I took the october SAT reasoning test and received a heart attack of a score which was 1730.

(By the way, I am a senior)
620 math
540 CR
560 writing
9 essay...

Now, I understand most of the population on this forum are geniuses so please do not bash me for my low scores as my intelligence level is obviously not great as yours.

I went from a 1610 in march to a 1730 by taking 8 practice tests in total. Five of these practice tests were from the Grubbers SAT prep book which was a total waste on my end and the other three were from the 2010 BB.

My plan for this november is to do the following:

Direct Hits Volume 1 and possibly volume 2 if time allows...

Finish the remaining 7 seven tests in the BB and then buy a Kaplan SAT book...(I would be much obliged if you guys could recommend me some of the books you used)

Do four timed sections each day and take a full practice test on the weekends.

Oh yes, the target score in mind for me is a 1900 or ( stating this number will probably lead to alot of bashing and smashing on my moral by CC users) a 2000...

Thanks and I hope I receive some constructive criticism and advice.

Dude, don’t be so hard on yourself. If I’m not mistaken (correct me guys if I’m wrong) Noitaraprep, a respected member here, went up from about a 1500 (practice test) to a 2400 (1st time actual). He did about 25 practice tests over the summer eons back, though.

Check out the CR thread by Noitaraprep, Silverturtle’s SAT/Admissions Thread, and AcademicHacker’s 12 essay in 10 days thread.

interesting… Well I hope i get a 2000 but saying is easier then doing…

I already read Silver Turtle’s grammar guide but this time, I’m going to go through it at least six times before i take the SAT in December.

Also, thanks for the essay advice.

giving it a bump bump bump…

gotta give it a bigger bump

Relax man! Just focus on your weaknesses.

I went from a 1710 on my 1st test to a 2070 on Octobers putting in an hour a day for about a month.

Good luck!!

I went from 1980 to 2230 over a summer of hard work, which was a 250 point increase, so I’d say it’s definitely possible to increase your scores. Even on CC, a 1900 is by no means a bad score. Although it’s lower than a lot of CC members’ scores, 1900 is still like… 90th percentile right?

recite wordlists

thanks for all the help guys, I hope more advice keeps coming in.

Bumping time

I went from 1790 to 2150 with four weeks of study, just focus on doing more practice tests LEARN THE ONES YOU GET WRONG. That doesn’t mean to just look up the rule and forget it, practice that type of problem a few times and master it.

How many practice tests should i do?.. and How do I repeat these problems over and over

i got 28 wrong on the june sat critical reading and now as i prepare for the november 6th one im getting around 10 wrong or less. This is a huge improvement for me. I got 16 wrong in writing on june sat test and now im getting only 2 or 1 wrong. I’m telling you the secret is not prep class or any other sat tutors. It’s reading and thinking. That’s all there is to it. It sounded simply back then in june but now i realize how to do it correctly. So don’t let your hopes down. It will slowly come to you.

I guess, i will go hard core this month… I hope my chances are with me and I get this in one bang…

I went from a 140 to 2190 (2200 super score). It’s all about practicing.

I went from a 165 PSAT to a 205 PSAT by practicing and reviewing mistakes. When I took the SAT, I got a 1990 the first time and 2100 the second time (2170 super score).I think the key is just practicing and *reviewing mistakes. *

The SAT is just a test. Don’t be too hard on yourself

I just need a score boost… my moral is pretty low right now… I just need some assurance that my method will allow me into the 1900-2000 range…

Giving it another bump…waiting for some more people in my situation that have succeeded…

Super bumping
