Hi! So I need an audition monologue and several people have suggested "People Watcher," from Carol Shields's play called Departures and Arrivals. However, I can't find it anywhere. If somebody has it, is there any way you could PM it to me?! Thank you so much!

The Drama Book Shop in NYC has an online site. We get a lot of material there.

I couldn’t find it but thanks anyway!

You can order it from the Playwrights Guild of Canada but it is pretty expensive. You might check with your library to see if they have it or can get it through interlibrary loan. We had similar issues finding a copy of a play that my D wanted to get for a monologue but it was worth the detective work to find it in the end.

Good luck with your search!

yeah, libraries seem like your best bet… the cheapest I found it was for about $30 through BN.com. If you’re near a major metropolis, check the public libraries there. For example, the New York Public Library has it, though you can’t check it out, I don’t think.

Also, try checking with your school’s drama teacher. He/she might have it and be able to loan it out to you.
