Thank you for your support:)

What kind of engineering? Why Brandeis for engineering?

communnication or electricity.

You mean electrical engineering? Communication as in communication system within electrical engineering field? I believe Brandeis does not have engineering school except for maybe computer science. I am not positive but you should definitely investigate and make sure.

oh,i didn’t know that,i was just narrowing down the US news top 30 list, and i found Brandeis, and i live in MA.

You mean Brandeis doesn’t have a engineering school?Yes,but i think they should have some engineering majors, like Princeton and some other colleges.

Other good engineering schools within MA or closed to and maybe reachable by your stat; WPI, RPI, BU, Northeastern. US news top 30 is not a good place to start for the given GPA, talk to your guidance counselor would be a better start.

No, Brandeis appears to not offer any engineering majors. A school must have engineering school to offer engineering majors.

columbia SEAS is getting much more selective

Thank you!

Northeastern is a very good choice for you, potentially. Look into it. I would not focus on ratings at all. Without getting into a debate as to whether ratings are even meaningful, in your case with your GPA you need to be more realistic. BTW, being asian definitely does NOT help, especially for engineering. There are a disproportionate number of asians at US colleges relative to their population numbers. Not saying that is a bad thing, it is just a fact. At Duke, for example, the freshman class was 20% asian.

Anyway, you need to focus on the next tier schools where they will be impressed by your SAT and able to accept your GPA. Trust me, many of these schools are extremely fine places to get an education.

Thank you!I am thinking about the EDs,as for the regular ones,i would definitely think about the school you mentioned.:)

Nothing wrong with ED if you are very sure of a school, but you have a lot of research to do then. Besides, you still don’t start school until Fall 2011, whether you get accepted in December or April. I wouldn’t get too hung up on ED.

Also do you think you will need Financial Aid? If so, there are issues with ED application with regards to Financial Aid. Have you talked to your parents about college finance? If money is no object then looking at the top school that you can get to with your stat is definitely fine, otherwise understanding the various issues involved is an important part of making good ED/RD application decision.

Thank you!I need some FA.

Ok,i am thinking about giving up my engineering major and add UNC to my regular list, don’t need financial aid,how does UNC look for me?

I know it is a little off topic, but why not give me some advice?:]

Why do you say in one post that you need FA and then in another you say that you don’t?

Have your parents said that they can pay $55k per year for your education?

If not, then you need to find out what your EFC is, and if that is easily doable, and only apply to an ED school that meets 100% of need with small or no loans.

Do not apply ED to any school without knowing…

What your parents are certain they can pay for

What your EFC would likely be, and if your parents can afford it.

If the school meets need with little or no loans.

It depends on which college, for UNC,i don’t need FA and i am finishing it in 3 years, but schools like ivies,i need to apply for financial aid.

I know they are not accurate, but very very wrong?
