Hi I am a rising senior and i got a 2240 on my first sat. Unfortunately, the split was pretty ugly.
780 math
770 writing
690 critical reading
I have gone through the entire blue book except for one test which I am saving for one of the days prior to my next sat (early October) I have gone through multiple sat books, I have read the famed xiggy advice, and have tried and tested just about every strategy out there. My cr still can’t seem to break the low 700’s (and when it occasionally does it is always a fluke).
If anyone could help in any way, it would be much appreciated. I’m looking to at the least get a 2300, but I am hoping for mid to high 2300’s.
Thanks
Have tried Erica Meltzer’s The Critical Reader?

I haven’t. Do you think it could improve my cr?
Yes, that’s why I recommended it.
So how did it improve your score?
All I can tell you is that my daughter found it useful and the son of another parent on the parents of the class of 2016 also said it helped improve his CR as well.
Even though my sons will be taking the new format of the SAT I’ve kept this book for them because I the information is very solid and I think it will help them too.
could you please tell me how you got a 690? cuz I’m stuck at 600 over here :’( …which approach do you follow?do you first read the questions for line references and then mark the sentences on the paragraph? or do you read the passage in chunks and answer the questions as you go along? or do you write notes as you go along? moreover, which vocab list do you use?
Haha idk If u want to use this advice because my cr is my worst section… But j memorized Barron’s 500 words. On the actual sat that I took I would read a paragraph, answer any questions pertaining to that paragraph, read the next one, answer all questions pertaining to that paragraph, etc.
i tried marking up the actual test but it just wastes too much time
Ok thanks I’ll check it out
