I was accepted into Duke, Cornell, Tufts, Vassar, RIT, and the University of Rochester and waitlisted by Princeton. I opted to remain on the Princeton waitlist.

I will probably be studying computer science and chemistry or neuroscience (perhaps something medical in the future).

I'm really not sure, but I think I cut it down to Cornell, U of Rochester, Vassar. I live in New York and Duke seems quite far away. I visited once and, though I don't think I'd get homesick, I wouldn't want to make an 11.5 hour drive during break either.

What do you guys think? What college do you think would be best for me?

It's up to you, but I'd seriously consider Cornell, especially since it's very strong in your areas of interest. It has a highly motivated student body, great campus, great food, etc. Vassar is an excellent school, but it's small, slanted towards females, and a bit isolated. U Rochester is a good school, but it's not on quite the same level as the other two provided the costs are the same.

Cornell is the easy choice prestige, reputation-wise among the three choices you listed. But I'd choose Duke over any of those. Honestly with gas prices so high you'll most likely be flying anyway and flights from RDU to LGA/ JFK are often cheap, non-stop, and occur often. I went to school 11.5 hrs away and visited home more often than my brother who was less than 6 hrs away.

Duke is great academically and more intimate than Cornell.
