hey If i get accepted into a good undergraduate school for business, like fordham for example, would it be better for me to attend my local state U (much cheaper) and go for a grad degree from a more prestigious school (considering i have the grades for the good undergrad business but not the money)? Especially considering the economic mess we are in?

If you're just talking about Fordham, I'd take the state U. As someone who hires for good "business" jobs in NYC, Fordham is not considered any better than many state flagships and would be ranked below many.

If you get into elite business programs like Wharton, Stern, MIT etc., I would consider paying up for those.

but if not, is my idea better financially? And what would i have to do to work towards admission into a prestigious Grad school for business (considering stern, columbia, U of Chicago)

For those MBA programs you'll need a high GPA, high GMAT scores and 3-5 years of business experience. The disadvantage you do face by not attending a top school is that the kind of jobs top MBA programs like are typically those gotten by top college grads. Though many kids from all kinds of schools do make it into top MBA programs, the top colleges are overrepresented at them.

Oh i gotcha...thanks for the help
