At my large public high school, the staff in charge of transcripts and college materials are entirely overwhelmed and have adopted the principle that "no exceptions can be made for anyone."

I have been to their office multiple times trying to work out issues with my transcript, and have been informed that there is "nothing they can do" and that "colleges will understand."

On my transcript, I am listed as my own guardian.

There is no indication on my transcript that that all of my courses have been taken as part of the "Gifted and Talented" program.

My SAT Subject Test scores are listed on my transcript in addition to my PSAT scores, none of which are required by the institutions that I am applying to because I elected to submit the ACT. In the past three years, these scores did not appear on the transcript, but they "changed the system" without giving anyone notice and have elected to submit every test score I have ever received with my transcript.

What should I do?

I had to submit a transcript by the January deadlines. My counselor doesn't know how to resubmit a transcript in place of the other.

I think you don’t have much to worry about. The “gifted and talented” label is superfluous to the actual content – i.e. your courseload. Anyone looking at your transcript will be able to tell if it’s rigorous or not with or without your school-specific label.

So you took the SAT and its score isn’t stellar. But your ACT, supposedly is. Great!

If you feel readers will say “aha! here’s a fraud!” I think you’re overthinking it.

What should you do? Honestly… nothing but enjoy your last few mos. as a HS student. Really (and I know you’ve applied to some very competitive colleges too).

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your input.

But I should clarify. My SAT I score was good. Actually, it was better than my ACT. I sent it to many colleges, along with my chosen SAT Subject Scores (the schools I applied to accept Score Choice).

But now all of my subject test scores are listed on my transcript, which takes away my ability to use Score Choice for universities that allow it. I don’t feel that it’s fair that I have that disadvantage.
