I'm currently an incoming freshman to UB for Mech Engineering.
At first I was going for Pharmacy but I realized pharmacy isn't for me so I decided to change my major to Mech engineering but I found out stony brook has mech engineering too.
I want to transfer to Stonybrook but they don't accept the first year mech engineering credits from UB. Stony brook has General Education requirement classes so I was thinking, do I change to Undecided/undeclared and take those general education classes at UB for a year so I don't have to take it at stony brook during the first year? I'll start off as a freshman at stony in mech engineering.

UB’s general education classes should be transferable to Stony Brook. They both belong to SUNY!

However, if you plan to study at UB for a year, I don’t see why you want transfer back to Stony Brook as a first year student again.

Check out [Undergraduate ME Program](<a href=“Stony Brook Mechanical Engineering | Department of Mechanical Engineering”>Stony Brook Mechanical Engineering | Department of Mechanical Engineering)
Priority for admission to the mechanical engineering major is given to those students who have 1). completed MAT 132 and PHY 132 or their equivalents, 2). earned a G.P.A. of 3.0 in all mathematics and physics courses with no more than one grade in the C range, and 3). received completed course evaluations for all transferred courses that are to be used to meet requirements of the major.

I want to transfer to stony brook because it’s closer to home as oppose to buffalo, being 8 hours away. I have medical conditions that require monthly check ups with specific doctors nearby home. It will be more convenient for me and my parents since stony brook is only an hour away.
