Need Advice Please!!!

Well I just got my AP Chem score and it was a 4. Tech is my first choice but I needed a 5 to get credit and skip Chem I. However, I do have the option of getting the credit with a 720 on the Chem SAT II. So should I

Study a LOT and aim for a 720 and skip the course in college?

Take the course anyway get an easy (or at least easier) A because I’ve already learned the material?

How hard is it to get a 720 on the Chem SAT II anyway? If I got a 4 would it be realistic for me to get that score?

How hard is the Chem I class here? Do you reccomend taking it?

Skip it if you can.

i just took the chem sat II, i've had chem and chem II (advanced chem/forensic chem) and i got a 780 on the SAT II... not too hard even without AP chem. so i'd go for that- means i won't have to even take the chem AP exam next year!

What do current students think about skipping the Chem I class? Would you advise against it?

I need to know whether I should even take the SAT II or not...

Chem I is pretty useless, I'm a Biochem major and I still think you don't need it. If your major requires upper level chemistry then inorganic I will def. cover all your bases and you HAVE to take that. Gen Chem is just a long, drawn out buffer course that I don't think you particularly need and I'd advise against taking it even to get an 'easy A' because you still have to devote extra hours to lab and recitation which is a pain in my a**.

Well I plan on majoring in Materials Science, which is kinda related to chemistry.

Chem I is NOT a weed out class like Physics I and II. So dont worry too much if you have to take it. But if you can, its definitely worth studying a bit more for the SAT II and getting out of it. It is not a fun class (although not so hard, it requires a lot of time). You will not miss it if you are an MSE major, as you will take higher level chem classes.

I also got a 4 on AP Chem back when I was a sophomore. Took the Chem SAT on Dec. (senior year) and got a 720. Oh, and no, I didn't study for it. I bought a sparknotes book on it the day before the exam.
Yes, it's really easy. Basically skim through the book, and make sure you're able to recognize keywords. The relatively few actual problems with numbers require mainly enhanced common sense. By enhanced I mean with that additional bit of chemistry knowledge that doesn't diminish easily with time after taking AP Chem, for example.

So the SAT II is definitely way easier than the AP exam?
