I was looking through the Cornell student job postings, and I found a research assistant job that I am interested in. I believe the posting was created in December. The job apparently starts on January 24th. I applied for the job on January 3rd by sending a cover letter and resume to the contact through email. I haven't received a response and the posting has not been removed. What should I do? Should I continue to wait and hope I will get a response in the next week, or should I email the professor? If I email the professor, what should I say? Thanks!

I have a feeling that you didn´t hear because most people were away over the winter break. I would email the professor. Your email should let the professor know you have applied for the positon, why you are interested, let him/her know you are available to meet with him/her to further discuss. A little bit of advertisement about yourself wouldn´t hurt either. Include your contact information (like cell phone). Keep it short.
