Need advice :(

I'm a junior--I want to study either journalism/business or journalism/political science. I live in VA and I had these schools in mind (in order):

UNC Chapel Hill
PSU-University Park
Virginia Tech
George Washington University
American University
James Madison University

I got a 1930 on my SAT (680 both Math/writing (9 on essay) and 570 reading), so I thought that this would be a good list of reaches, matches, safeties, etc.

But, then I took the ACT and got a 32 (33 math/reading, 31 writing, 29 science) which was a complete surprise because I was projected at 28.

Now, my parents think I'm "Ivy material," but I don't want to consider Ivies because they lack the journalism program I'm looking for (Columbia only has graduate program). My parents also think that now my list is too simple and I should expand my search, but I know how difficult UNC is out of state regardless of scores, etc.

I want a legitimate college campus--I want that feel of a college town, not an urban city (which is why NYU and BU are sadly out of the question :( if only!)

Am I missing colleges I should look at based on my stats and interests?

Other stats to consider: 3.96 UW GPA
School offers one AP course-AP Gov which I took sophomore year with 5 on exam
In IB program (not doing full diploma but am taking all the necessary IB classes--all A's and one A- in Math SL I)
Lots of EC's related to my passion for journalism (Newseum volunteer, editorial positions on student newspaper all four years, honor societies, and other groups)
Tutor on weekends, camp counselor during summers, been to regional science fair 2 times

Look at college board input your stats and major, and colleges within or a little above you reach will show up, from there narrow your search by what you’re looking for in a college; activities, clubs, student life etc. Best of luck to you!
