Need advice

Who are some of the more reputable consultants for advising on med school applications?

You could skip the cost of paying consultants and go for advising of the free kind lol. Premed advisors in most undergrad institutions are good resources, and there are verified adcoms and physicians on the pre-medical subforums on the SDN forums who regularly offer free and educated advice and opinions to applicants. There are also plenty of successful applicants and current medical students who hang around on there as well.

@Huskymaniac

What do you think a “reputable consultant” will do to help your kid with the medical school application process?

Maybe the consultant you hired for undergrad school, if you did…can give you a suggestion. Also, that thread was from spring 2018…so your kid (or you…) would be completing their freshman year of college now…right…if they didn’t take that gap year. If this student is in college where there is an advisor for those planning to apply to medical school, start there.

@WayOutWestMom any other suggestions?

Here are my thoughts:

  • there are posters on CC who are very knowledgeable and always willing to help… I have gained valuable information from them
  • seeing a premed advisor on campus is helpful
  • the SDN forum also provides a wealth of information
