I am looking for feedback from parents of current Villanova students. I am concerned about the need-based aid dropping significantly after the first year --especially after reading the last post in this thread:
We have twin daughters who were accepted to Villanova for next fall (class of 2020). Villanova’s need-based grant offers are higher than other schools which say that they are committed to meeting students’ full demonstrated financial need (ND, BC, Richmond, Northeastern). I am concerned about getting less aid even if circumstances remain the same, but it is hard to find people to ask about their experiences.
Just wanted to add I am in the same boat and anxious to hear about some experiences! It’s hit my budget exactly for 16-17, but I don’t want to risk an increase for the other years.
As a follow up: I messaged the original 2013 poster from the link which I included above. They said that there was no “bait and switch” and that the issue was resolved once they provided some additional documentation. The second year grant aid ended up equalling the first however tuition continued to rise each year, while aid did not.
The package for our son was the same each of his first two years. We fully expect it to remain the same for 16-17 as per university policy, without any significant changes in income. The FAFSA, CSS and iDoc are required each year. Yes, costs rise. The loan amount does as well. I’m not sure there are many schools that will adjust grant aid based solely on yearly cost hikes.
