I know that Grinnell uses the FAFSA and not the CSS Profile for financial aid evaluation. Most significantly, this means that home equity and business value are not included in their financial aid calculations.

Did anyone out there see a big difference in need based aid between Grinnell and other LAC's, like Carleton, Macalester, Oberlin, etc.

Four years ago our daughter got grants/scholarships from Macalester and Grinnell that would made the cost of attendance about the same and roughly equal to Expected Family Contribution. Grinnell offerred a $17,000 per year renewable scholarship while Macalester offered primarily need based grants. The cost of attending Grinnell or Macalester in future years would be roughly the same if our family income remained the same or declined but if our family income increased, Grinnell would be cheaper than Macalester since the Grinnell merit aid was fixed.
