need cash for college

So I will be attending UCR this Fall and I have applied to a handful of scholarships but I have won none. I was wondering if some one can guide me to a scholarship that I have a shot at. so here are my stats:

Hispanic ,First Generation American, GPA of 3.1, I do qualify as an AP Scholar but didn't pass my 3rd ap till senior year.BA in Public policy hopefully be declaring a double in Economics in my 2nd quarter. Hope of going to UCLA Law and starting my own real Estate Development company. Family income below 25k. Any more info just ask?

Your standardized test scores will govern a lot of the scholarships available to you. If you haven’t taken the ACT, I’d try it (can get a prep book).

The OP will be attending college THIS fall…it’s a little late for the ACT or SAT to be taken again.

To the OP…did you apply for financial aid at UCR? Did you complete the FAFSA ON TIME? Did you apply for a Cal grant meeting the deadline?? Are you instate for CA?

I have a Cal grant B, Pell grant and acg grant plus UCR placed a extra 8000 so overall I got 16,000 dollars. But I was making calculations and it comes out that In order for that money to last an entire year I will need a budget of 200 a month. The Fin Aid I got isn’t bad but I am still short for living expenses and books and such.

I got a 21 in ACT and 1260 in SAT

Do you have a Stafford Loan? If not, that should cover the remainder of your costs…that plus a summer job.

No work study was offered? Suggest you get a job on campus - $200/month is not unrealistic for a student living on campus, if you’re relatively careful.

Have you tried fastweb & put in your stats? I think they’ll suggest certain scholarships that will fit your particulars…

I do have a work study but remember I wont be getting those benefits till later on. the 200 is for the first month besides that it will be a 400 dollar budget. The estimate is with the 3 fed loans. I need the extra cash for a laptop and just running the numbers with the new fees , health fee, sir fee,ect ,gave me 200 bucks a month

Thanks spammer.
OP: get a job as quickly as possible. If you were to get an outside scholarship it might affect your FA from UCR. (other posters correct me if I’m wrong here but that is my understanding).
