Alright I plan to attend the University of California Riverside and living on campus is a must. I checked the estimated UCR offer and they predict they will assist me with grants and loans and leave me with $6000 to come from my family each year, but the problem is my parents cannot and will not give me $6000 each year what options do I have?

Can your parents help you at all? If so, how much?

They can only assist in paying my down payment of $100 and whatever the down payment is for the housing

The Net price calculator estimate is based on PREVIOUS year actual finaid. It can be more that $6,000 next year due to changes in FAFSA.
EFC 0 is changed from 32,000 to 23,000 income. If your grant is Pell grant something will most likely change.

Do you have any chance to win any merit scholarships based on grades and test scores?

So basically you’re saying im looking at a higher cost? And i’ve practically applied for most scholarships I qualify for

I don’t know what scholarships you qualify for. Merit based? Need based? Community service based? Your future major based? Your race/nationality/religion based?
I don’t have enough information.

Net Price Calculator estimate can change. Any federal and state aid in grants is subject of AVAILABILITY. The rules for availability changed this year.
