Need help choosing college

Hello,
I live in Texas and I'm between choosing colleges.
I'm trying to go for engineering
and I have come across three schools as my top schools,
UMich, UT Austin, and Cornell.

All three are relatively close in rankings of the undergraduate engineering program.
I am starting to write essays today, but I don't believe I need to go Out of State to such an expensive school when I can just simply go to UT Austin and save my parents money...

Are there other schools I should aim for that are worth the money to go to?

Thank you.

what are your stats?

I wish there was a way to pull up my sent messages, but I sent all my stats to someone, but here they are.

Unweighted GPA- 3.7~
SAT- CR: 730
M: 770
W: 660
Essay: 10
total: 2160

ACT: 30, but I retook it and I hopefully did better

EC:
All region first chair bassoonist 3 years
Outstanding Soloist bassoonist in South Padre Island, 2008
Division 1 soloist in region 3 years
3rd in marching contest
Secretary of National Honor Society
President and Cofounder of Spanish National Honor Society
in: Interact Club, Red Cross Club, Debate Club, Community Service Club

tell me if anybody need sto know anything else, thanks.

OH and I have 100+ community service hours
and 10+ internship

I’ll suggest three: Texas A&M as a safety, Georgia Tech as a match, and Rice as a reach.

But with my initial question, out of those three, should I just go for UT? Because the undergrad rankings are about the same.

Yeah I would go to UT, if you are fine with staying close to home, since it will be much cheaper.

Are you in the top 10% of your class?
