Which colleges are good for majors in speech and language disabilities? I want to be a special education teacher or an american sign language interpreter. I need help choosing the right college for this path!!

Most of the Special Ed teachers that I know got their undergrad. degree in education (elementary or secondary) and then went on for their Master’s degree in Special Education.

If you want to go into teaching, I suggest looking into your in-state public universities.

Speech Pathology and Education are different majors. You need to figure out which path you want to take.
Do you want to specialize in Speech Pathology or do you want to teach?

Well, i was a bit confused because i read that speech pathologists oftentimes become educators. But i would rather be a teacher. I want to specifically work with children who are hard of hearing or have speech impediments. thanks for the links! they really help

Read through the links and you’ll get a better idea about Speech Pathology.

If you are positive that you want to focus on working with children with speech/language disabilities, Cortland’s program may be ideal.

thanks! Now I’m wondering what chances I have of getting into any of those schools. My SAT score was not that great (1740) however, i’m taking them again next week! My GPA is a 3.8 and i have a couple of extracurriculars.
